Chrome has been enhancing the beauty of everything from automobiles to household appliances for decades.  We have seen a decrease of its use in the past 25 years or so. 

Here at Bulldog we offer a unique, modern take on the popular chrome finish.  Traditionally, this finish has been accomplished through the use of a nasty brew of toxic chemicals.  Now that has changed.  Many of these traditional chroming plants are being shut down by the EPA.  Our process for achieving the beautiful finish of chrome is different. 

Instead of using conventional (and hazardous) chromium, we use a special silvering technique.  This system is being referred to as “spray-on chrome”.  It is applied in a three step process.  I will briefly explain how the process works and then I will share with you the awesome versatility that it allows.

Step One...

We first apply a basecoat.  This basecoat provides amazing adhesion over most any surface.

Step Two...

Two unique water-based solutions are sprayed at the same time through a special dual-nozzle spray gun.  When these two solutions meet they create a fine mist of real silver.  This silver bonds to the base coat to produce a mirror like finish.

Step Three...

Next, a clear, ultra-durable protective coating is applied over the entire reflective surface.  This clear coat serves to protect the shine of the silver and to prevent tarnishing.

The exciting part of this system is its amazing versatility.  We are not limited to only metals or, for that matter, automotive applications.  The strong adhesion of our product and its amazing flexibility make it perfect for practically anything you would like to see a chrome finish on.  Our finish can be applied to fiberglass, plastics, glass, wood, vinyl, aluminum, and of course sheet metal and steel.  If you can dream it up we can most likely apply a spray-on chrome finish to it.

That’s not the end to our versatility.  We all know what chrome looks like.  Can you envision your favorite color in a chrome finish?  We can deliver a beautiful colored chrome finish!  How?  Our top coat allows us to add small amounts of pigment to give a unique transparent color to your chrome surface.  This gives us the ability to do two-tone chrome finishes.  We can do custom graphics and logos.  All of this with the classic look of chrome.
